Date: 06 Jul 1999 23:05:29 PDT Message-ID: <7luqn9$css@journal.concentric.net> SPUG, the Stanford PalmPilot Users Group (www.flash-sheridan.name/spug) had a meeting tonight, 7.6.99 and it went quite well. As many know, the big attraction this month was UniLinear's Parachute (www.unilinear.com), a device which allows one to use many of the available PCMCIA cards in their Palm III or IIIx (support for other models may come in the future). John Haggis, the creator of the Parachute, was there along with Sarah Stodghill, who also works at UniLinear. John brought along a prototype of the Parachute and I have to say I was quite impressed. I'll probably be posting a review of this product in the near future. Also there was Gordon Force of Force Technology (www.force.com), who makes the Bond Latch for Palm Organizers, which allows you to carry the Palm on a small rope around your neck or hanging from your wrist. One thing he and his partner were showing was altered Bond Latches that worked with the Palm VII, as the VII is a tad bit too wide for the regular Palm III(x) Bond Latch. I'm certainly going to get in touch with them to order a Bond Latch for my Palm VII. A surprising amount of people had Palm VII's; I believe I counted 4, at least. Two, of course, were Flash Sheridan (www.flash-sheridan.name), who works for Palm Computing (I didn't call it 3Com Flash! ;) and is the president of SPUG, and Adam Tow, president of Tow Solutions (www.tow.net), who used to work for 3Com (he had a clear Palm VII; I covet it!). One guy, who I didn't get a chance to chat with, brought a silver Palm III(x? I didn't find out), which he had made by creating a metallic protective cover that went all around the Palm, with buttons and all. It was *quite* impressive. There were also numerous people with clear Palm III(x) cases. John Haggis took some pictures of the silver case; I'm going to email him and see if he'll send them to me. Well that's about all I can think of this late in the evening. I had fun and I know everyone else did too! If you live in the area and haven't made it out to one of these, you should stop by next month; they're a blast! They're on the first Tuesday of every month, at Printers Inc. Bookstore in Palo Alto (310 California Ave). -Mikey comp.sys.palmtops.pilot From: brian_hall@markspace.com (Brian Hall) Re: SPUG's Meeting: Went Quite Nicely! I'll be posting them to my company web site later today (probably at the PageNOW! Pilot web page, http://www.markspace.com/pagenow_pilot.html - but don't expect them till tomorrow to be safe).
