My occupation: freelance graphic design, layout, writing, editing, research, Web design, and just about anything else people will pay me for. I'm also a research assistant in the Social Science Division of the University of California at Santa Cruz; the professor I work with does quantitative studies of dreams as well as power structure research.



I lived in Minneapolis until July of 2004 but am now in Portland, Oregon. My wife and I bought a house here and are enjoying spending our winters without any danger of frostbite. I hike in the Cascades a lot and take way too many pictures.
Acoustic guitar players who've wandered into this page may want to check out my guitar chord/tablature collection. There, you'll find lots of music by singer-songwriters like Indigo Girls, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kim Richey, and Lucinda Williams. (And a bunch of "miscellaneous" stuff as well.) Guitar music of all genres is available from the massive On-Line Guitar Archive (OLGA).
A couple years ago, I got a GPS receiver; unfortunately, the included software didn't allow me to do much with the tracks I'd recorded... so I made my own Web-based utility, called GPS Visualizer, that takes GPS data files and turns them into maps or profiles.
