december values added
the blue line's still invisible, but the other two are converging nicely. nothing unusual to report this month. i'll do the monthly breakdown when i get a chance. |

finally!
i finished my first monthly tabulation with my answers to the three questions for each of my spending categories. i'll be putting these tables in the monthly subdirectory. |

gah!
income and expenses are both still coming down, but look at that gap between them! evil evil bad bad evil bad! well, i'm putting in some long-term work on it, making a list of the silly expenses -- like the phone bill for the line at the old house that's only there because i haven't gotten dsl at the new one -- and working on getting rid of them. then i need to get back to the book. i did get some more work done on step one, digging out some old paystubs and requesting a statement of earnings from the social security administration. in related bad news, i see the treasury has decided to stop issuing 30-year bonds. bah. i've switched to using the interest rate from 10-year notes. so outrageous spending this month plus a switch to a lower interest rate can't make that poor little blue line happy -- if i'd taken all my cash-on-hand and stuck it in the 11/7 10-year note, i'd be making $8.89/month. i wonder how far i could stretch that. :) |

it's up.
well, this page is up. caveats:
thoughts: wow, that poor little third line barely even pokes its head up. :) as for income and expenses, it's coming back down from that insane housebuying leap, but i'm still living beyond my means, mostly from stupid stuff like
i need to spend a day cleaning all that up, then i can take a look at how expenses have generally climbed along with income, and think about getting them back down to reasonable levels. this is where rereading the book and doing the steps about expenditures comes in. i have a feeling too much of it is going into food. i need to start cooking more instead of eating out all the time. well, we'll see what the figures say. i'm curious to see that little line start climbing. :) |

house!
i bought a house today. wow, but that's a big spike in the expenses line! :) savings account: bye-bye. (well, a lot of it.) expenses after this will be raised by a monthly mortgage payment. the mannington account has been closed, and the money transfered to my baltimore savings account. |

domini
i started investing in the domini social equity fund, and dumped a bunch of cash into it to get started. ooh, these last three months will make a nice curve. :) |

home equity loan paid
another bump in the expenses line, as i paid off dan's home equity loan. some people get inheritances, other inherit debts. :) well, it's gone. w00t! debt-free!! |

big bump in the expenses this month, as i took a big chunk out of the savings account and paid off my college loans, the last of my personal debts. |

ok, so this is a lie...
i'm actually starting this page on 11/19/2001, but i have good, detailed records going back to february of 1998, so i'll stick it all up and add comments i would have made if i'd had this page here all this time. |
