Sync It Back To Me
And I'm back. Sorry for the outage, my domain name registration slipped (oops) and had me off the air. As I said in an email today, I've been "monster busy" lately, though yes, it's no excuse for not keeping up with stuff.
Some new news in feedland has me very happy: NetNewsWire has been acquired by NewsGator. I'm happy because this means I don't have to spend time writing my own tools to try and sync between FeedDemon, Bloglines, and NetNewsWire, though with NetNewsWire moving to NewsGator, Bloglines support is likely to be removed. The acquisition of FeedDemon by NewsGator earlier in the year didn't have much impact for me since I don't use NewsGator, as I only use Outlook at work and have only twiddled with online feedreaders and aggregators like Bloglines. I may consider using NewsGator's Outlook add-in to follow work-related feeds if I can sync those to FeedDemon and NetNewsWire, but the catch is that I don't want all my feeds in those two programs to be synced to my work laptop. Edge case, thy name is Dan.
Anyway, here's some kibbitzing about this from the usual suspects: Brent Simmons (NetNewsWire), Nick Bradbury (FeedDemon), and Greg Reinacker (NewsGator). Brent and Greg are in town at Web 2.0, but they don't know me so I probably won't be able to eat Thai food with them. Rats.
I will be able to eat Thai food with David Hulton tonight though, who is in town from Hawaii overnight due to a bomb scare that vaporized his connecting flight. He's on his way over now, and I should probably call him. Cab rides from SFO don't usually take this long. David organizes and throws ToorCon every year for the last seven years in San Diego. I went this year and had a great time.
He just got here. Time for Thai.
