The core business of the newly-founded company Adaptux will probably consist in participating in IT projects of all kinds by analizing the work-flows and needs of the users of the IT systems, and to ensure in collaboration with the programmers and other IT service providers who participate in the project that these practical needs are met in the best way possible. This sounds simple, but it is particularly in this area that a careful and systematic approach is quite important for ensuring that your IT projects will not result in frustration, but rather in increasing the productivity and the reputation of your business!

Personal goals related to Adaptux

Well, hello :-) My name is Norbert Bollow, and I'm a mathematician who has become an IT professional. After much hesitation I've decided to really go ahead and try to fix some things which are going significantly wrong in the realm of IT, namely that so of the IT landscape being shaped by the short-term convenience of programmers and IT administrators. I want to contribute to making IT projects more focused on the interests and needs of the people and organizations who use information technology. This is particularly important in those market segments which are dominated by a single software company, which (through lack of competition) results in the needs of many users remaining unmet. The only economically reasonable solution to this problem consists in always carefully analysing whether the goals of the project can achieved more effectively by choosing FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) as starting point, and having this freely available program code adapted to he specific needs of the project.

Envisioned initial service offerings

Here are some initial thoughts on the types of services that Adaptux will offer initially:

• Help your company (or other organization) identify and understand IT-related needs and strategic opportunities
• Help your organization plan (or other organization) IT-related actions
• Assist you in finding suitable providers of IT implementation services
• Assist you in negotiations with programmers and other IT implementors

Request for interviews

In order to be able to make this more concrete and go forward I need to understand the market better. Inparticular, I need to understand what the felt needs of various companies and other organizations are in this area, and what kinds of consulting services in this field that could imagine paying for.

For this reason I want to conduct a number of interviews with people in various companies and other organizations to learn how well their IT-related needs are currently being met, and how the situation could potentially be improved.
